San Antonio Wheelmen Ride Schedule

Key to listings: Letters in parentheses indicate general direction of ride start in relation to San Antonio, e.g. (N) means Northside or north of the city. Letters in brackets indicate terrain: R=rolling; H=hilly; F=flat.

We welcome cyclists of all abilities to come ride with us, but please arrive at least ten minutes prior to the posted start time; start times indicate the time at which riders roll out of the parking lot. Be sure to arrive in time to sign in, grab a map, air up your tires, and maybe socialize.

Please note that riders under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult on any Wheelmen ride.

Ride some familiar roads from a great starting spot. Meet at Bullis County Park on Blanco Road between Borgfeld and Old Blanco roads. From Loop 1604, take Blanco Road north about 8 miles. Marion Ride (NE) [F to R]. Routes of 20, 36, 44, 50, 57 and 64 miles.

Meet at Marion High School. From I-35 North, turn right on FM 3009 (Roy Richard Drive, exit 175) to FM 78; turn left and go about 6.5 miles, turn right on South La Vernia Steet in Marion, then go 3 short blocks. Contact: Vicki S., 210/289-8905

Boerne “is this the last hill?” Ride (NNW) [H]. | map to start »
Routes vary from 25-70 miles and go through Comfort, Sisterdale, and Waring-Welfare and for the really stout-of-heart, Old Hwy 9 to Luckenbach. The Boerne ride is one of the longest running rides offered monthly by the Wheelmen for good reason – the scenery! The hills are challenging and definitely not for the faint-of-heart. The fun begins at the Boerne City Hall, 402 E. Blanco, in downtown Boerne. Take I-10 West to Business 87 (exit 542) and continue north on Main Street to the light at E. Woman Hollering Creek Ride (E) [F to R]. Routes of 26-70 miles available. | map to start »
This popular ride features the rolling farmland east of Bexar County, fresh hot pies at the stop in New Berlin and, of course, the famous Woman Hollering Creek. Meet at Judson High School in Converse. From Loop 1604, take FM 78 to FM 1516 and turn left. Judson High School is on your left. Contact: Cliff H., 210/884-9470

Saturday, August 21, 8:00 am, Southside Mission Ride (S) [F to R]. Routes of 27, 39, 51 and 61 miles. 
Rides begin at the parking lot of the Visitors Center at Mission San Jose and travel along the lower section of the Mission Trail past historic Missions and the SA River before heading into the flat to slightly rolling terrain of southeast Bexar County. Take Exit 137 from I-37 South, turn right on Hot Wells and continue 1.7 miles (road curves to the right after crossing RR tracks just past S. Presa), then turn left onto VFW Blvd. for 0.5 miles, left on Roosevelt for 0.4 miles, and left on Napier to reach the Visitors Center. Southcross), turn right onto S. New Braunfels, then right at the next stoplight onto Southcross.  Proceed east 1.2 mi. to Roosevelt. Big Joshua Creek Ride (NW) [R to H]. Routes of 29, 39, and 54 miles.
A beautiful Hill Country Loop with stops in Center Point, Comfort and Waring. An optional cruise up Skyline Drive awaits those with strong legs and low gears. Meet across the street from PoPo’s Restaurant in Welfare. Please try to keep the area directly across the highway from the restaurant open for the lunch customers. A near mirror-image of the popular Rebecca Creek ride with the 75-mile route taking in a loop of the Kendalia ride. The ride starts at Bulverde Elementary School. Take Hwy 281 North to the FM 1863/Bulverde exit. Turn left and go 2 miles on Bulverde Road to Amman Road. Turn left on Amman and the school is on the right at the corner of Bulverde and Amman.
