La Vernia, Wilson County Ride (SE) [F] | map to start

Routes of 20, 30, and 50 miles. Come join us in La Vernia at the City Park and tour Floresville, Sutherland Springs, and then back to La Vernia on nice country roads. Meet at the City Park in downtown La Vernia. From San Antonio, take 87 East off of Loop 410 South. In downtown La Vernia, turn right onto San Antonio Street right past the funeral home. Comfort Ladybird Loop (NW) [R to H] | map to start

Routes of 22, 32, 41 and 56 miles. Ride some of the very best roads within easy access of San Antonio. Try the super "traditional" options to the west of Comfort or travel north to the land of the Hell's Angels and Waylon Jennings on the 56-mile "Ladybird Loop," which heads north past the Bat Tunnel toward Fredericksburg. There are limited store stops, so please carry water and snacks. Meet at Comfort City Park at the intersection of 5th and Broadway in Comfort. Take I-10 West to the Comfort/Hwy 87 exit # 524. Routes of 21, 34, 48 and 66 miles. Ride some familiar roads from a great starting spot. Meet at Bullis County Park on Blanco Road between Borgfeld and Old Blanco roads. From Loop 1604, take Blanco Road north about 8 miles. Inside the park, please park only on paved areas. If parking inside is full, park outside along the road. Contact: JD, 210/862-6559

Fair Oaks Afternoon Ride (NW) [R to H] | map to start

Routes of 20, 32 and 45 miles. The road terrain varies -- from flatter roads inside neighborhoods to rolling hills to roads that are pretty darn hilly! From I-10 West, take the Fair Oaks Blvd exit, stay on the access road 1/4 mile past Fair Oaks Blvd to the Fair Oaks Ranch Center, 28604 I-10 W. Contact: Mike P., 210/698-6625

Boerne "is this the last hill?" Ride (NNW) [H] | map to start

Routes vary from 25-70 miles and go through Comfort, Sisterdale, and Waring-Welfare and for the really stout-of-heart, Old Hwy 9 to Luckenbach. The Boerne ride is one of the longest running rides offered monthly by the Wheelmen for good reason -- the scenery! The hills are challenging and definitely not for the faint-of-heart. The fun begins at the Boerne City Hall, 402 E. Blanco, in downtown Boerne. Take I-10 West to Business 87 (exit 542) and continue north on Main Street to the light at E. Elmendorf Ride (SE) [F, R] | map to start

Routes of 21, 40 and 51 miles. Fairly flat but very pretty and ultra-easy to navigate. Meet at the "Park n� Ride" on the Southwest corner of the Texas Hwy 181/1604 intersection. Easy to get to either via Loop 1604 South to Hwy 181, or 281 or the 410 Loop to I-37 and then the Floresville exit to Hwy 181. Contact: Ed S., 210/392-9996

Comal Elementary (NE) [R to H] | map to start

Routes of 28, 48, 55, and 72 miles available. Ride up Krueger Canyon to the hills of Canyon Lake and then cruise back to the school on River Road. The longer route includes Devil�s Backbone/Purgatory loop. Start at the parking lot across from Comal Elementary School. Woman Hollering Creek Ride (E) [F to R] | map to start

Routes of 26-70 miles available. This popular ride features the rolling farmland east of Bexar County, fresh hot pies at the stop in New Berlin and, of course, the famous Woman Hollering Creek. Grand Tour of San Antonio Central [City] | map to start

A 25-mile tour that passes more than 30 historical, cultural, and scenic points of interest, including the Alamo, San Fernando Cathedral, St. Paul�s Square, Hemisfair Plaza, La Villita, King William, the San Antonio River, and the Spanish Missions. The group will stay together at a relaxed 12-mile pace. NOTE: This ride will NOT be held in inclement weather due to flooding of the route. Meet at the Blue Star parking lot across from Pioneer Flour Mill. Take IH37 south and exit Durango Street. Go right on Durango to South Alamo. Take a left on South Alamo and go about 1� miles. Routes of 27, 39, 51 and 61 miles begin at the parking lot of the Visitors Center at Mission San Jose and travel along the lower section of the Mission Trail past historic missions and the SA River before heading into the flat to slightly rolling terrain of southeast Bexar County. Take exit 137 from I-37 South, turn right on Hot Wells and continue 1.7 miles (road curves to the right after crossing RR tracks just past S. Presa), then turn left onto VFW Blvd. for 0.5 miles, left on Roosevelt for 0.4 miles, and left on Napier to reach the Visitors Center. Contact: Ken E., 210/533-3416

Joint ride with the Austin Cycling Association. Routes of 27, 43 and 52 miles. Ride River Road while it is quiet and then take a jaunt up the stunningly beautiful Devil’s Backbone. Meet in the REAR of the public lot across from Gruene Hall in Gruene. Take I-35 to exit 191, turn left (west) on FM 306. After 1.5 miles, turn left on Hunter Road, which takes you to Gruene (Note: do not turn left on FM 1102, East Common Street, which is before Hunter Road.)
